When was the last time you got an update about COVID?
COVID?
Are we still talking about COVID?
A COVID Update
Unfortunately, yes, we are still talking about COVID — for a few reasons.
For one thing, while many folks are done with COVID, it sure seems like COVID ain’t done with us.
COVID is once again surging in many parts of the world.
“A fresh wave of Covid-19 is sweeping across Asia, with Hong Kong and Singapore experiencing sharp increases in cases and hospitalisations in May 2025. Hong Kong’s infection rate has surged to its highest level in a year, while Singapore has reported a 28% rise in weekly cases and a 30% jump in hospital admissions.”

And if COVID is sweeping across Asia, including Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, and China, it is only a matter of time before we start to see more cases in other countries too.
“The resurgence of Covid-19 across Asia is a stark reminder that the pandemic is not yet behind us. The Logical Indian believes that community vigilance, scientific transparency, and compassion for vulnerable groups are essential as we navigate this new wave.”

Unfortunately, Secretary RFK Jr is hardly doing any of the things we need to be ready if this wave comes to the United States.

Instead, we will have less access to COVID vaccines, less funding for research into long-COVID, and who knows if anyone is even left at CDC to track COVID cases.

While we are currently seeing low levels of COVID, mostly caused by the LP.8.1 strain, and few hospitalizations or deaths, that could change.
“Singapore is also seeing a recent rise in its COVID indicators, with hospitals able to manage the increase in cases, The Straits Times reported, citing the country’s health ministry and its Communicable Diseases Agency. The two main variants are LF.7 and NB.1.8, which make up two-thirds of cases and both descend from JN.1.”

And it would be nice to know that we are prepared if it does.
