In this case, The Vigilant Fox, an anonymous anti-vaccine influencer, reposted an article posted by Jon Fleetwood, an “independent research journalist” whose claim to fame is that he has appeared on Alex Jones’ InfoWars.

So what is Jon Fleetwood saying about MMR vaccination rates and the measles outbreaks?

“Texas and New Mexico have had the sharpest increase in measles (MMR) vaccination so far in 2025—they’ve also had the most measles cases.

That raises serious questions about what’s really driving these outbreaks—and whether the mainstream “solution” is making the problem worse.”

He sees a correlation with state level vaccination rates and county level measles outbreaks.

Not only does Gaines County, where the Texas outbreak is centered, have low MMR immunization rates, many cases are in the Mennonite community whose immunization rates are even lower.

Measles outbreaks that are occurring in counties with very low vaccination rates and in communities with even lower vaccination rates.

As in previous outbreaks, clusters of unvaccinated children and adults lead to large outbreaks, even when we have herd immunity levels of protection in the surrounding city or state.

What else is Jon Fleetwood saying?

He “…is exclusively keeping a running list of troubling patterns linking measles infections to recent government-led MMR vaccination campaigns across North America.”

That no one else is doing this isn’t surprising, since it isn’t happening!

After all, the MMR vaccination campaigns begin after the measles outbreaks start.

Not only do we test and know that these folks have the D8 genotype of measles, we know that most have the specific measles virus strain Ontario.CAN/47.24!

Testing that involves a quantitative real time reverse transcription PCR (rRT-PCR) that is very sensitive, especially when used early in the infection.

Tests that show these folks do not have a vaccine strain.

Also remember that most cases are in folks who aren’t vaccinated.

“The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment recently confirmed a fifth case of measles in Colorado this year in a Denver County adult resident with verified measles (MMR) vaccination records.”

The MMR vaccine isn’t perfect though, so as we see more cases, and you have more chances to be exposed to someone with measles, you might get sick even if you are fully vaccinated.

That’s hardly a reason to not get vaccinated though!

This is certainly a good reason to stop listening to these types of anti-vaccine influencers!
